Review of June's Rango's Country Club

We always love Rango's Country Club evenings and this is the first one we had been able to attend in a couple of months so we were really looking forward to it.

It was a little scary for me though because I was having a crash course that night in gig photography. Well it was more like... how on earth do I use this camera as I have only ever pointed and shooted before. Anyway I will let you be the judge of how I did because all the photos in this review are mine.

The evening opened with our hosts for the evening Cinder Hill. Identical twins that have a blend of harmonies that only siblings can match. Hayley and Katie always put on a really lovely show but manage to never do the same show twice as they host this event once a month. If all goes to plan they will be writing some new material over the coming months and I am really looking forward to hearing what they come up with.

Next was Demi Marriner who I have known of for a long time. I have heard some of her music and seen video's but I had never seen her perform live before. She was great. I particularly liked a song she wrote about her nephew. Partner of Robbie Cavanagh, I could certainly hear his influences in the songs that he and Demi had written together.

Last to perform were Backwoods Creek. A band that are fantastic in any combination. They had played locally for a festival that afternoon and while Kamil and Jack headed south for home Dean, Jamie and Yannick became a guitarist trio. They sat on stools which is an absolute first but I didn't enjoy it any less than if they had the full band and were rocking it out. We were in for a treat actually. Dean had written a song about his grandad passing away and he took lead vocals and I have to say it is superb and I hope they end up recording it. It is nice to see another member of the band take the lead for a change. It keeps things interesting. These guys are definitely becoming firm favourites on the British country music circuit.

If you would like to go to a Rango's country club event they are held on the 3rd saturday of each month at Rango's Restaurant, 7 Delamere Street, CW7 2LX Winsford, Cheshire. Booking is advisable. Call 01606 554832
