Ashton Lane Live In Inverness 22/3/18

Thursday night 22nd March saw Glasgow band Ashton Lane make the trip north to Inverness’s Eden Court Theatre on the latest leg of their UK tour.

Utilising the smaller One Touch Theatre inside the venue which is a cracking 270-seater venue and the acoustics in there are great. A good crowd made for a good night’s entertainment.

Ashton Lane, consisting of husband and wife Tim and Esther O’Connor, along with Esther’s father Graham Duffin of Wet Wet Wet fame, treated us to a great set of songs from some of their many albums and also some great sounding new tracks.

They have a vast repertoire of mostly self-penned songs and they also do a few covers over the set. My personal favourite still appears to be “One Kiss Later”. A bit of chat along the way explains how they’ve come to write so many of their own songs and have also used sessions with their fans who have signed up to their bespoke song writing sessions.

Graham's skills on guitar certainly add a great touch to the lovely voice of Esther. He also helps Tim supply the harmonies on most songs.

Although I have a lot of their material, I was surprised at the number of CDs for sale, along with T-Shirts.

During the break Ashton Lane were only too willing to sign them, and they were more than happy to speak to the crowd after the show was finished.

Its great to get the chance of a gig nearer home for me and I hope its not too long before Ashton Lane decide to come back to the area.
