Becky Lawrence Releases Love Song On “Love Is Kind” Day

Emerging country artist, Becky Lawrence, is set to release original track, “You Say”, on “Love Is Kind” Day; her debut as sole lyricist and composer.

LONDON: Emerging country artist, Becky Lawrence, today announced that she is releasing a new, original single – You Say – which will be available to stream and/or download across all major digital platforms on July 27th, “Love Is Kind” Day. The track is her debut as the sole lyricist, composer, and vocalist alongside Antony Cull, who performed the accompaniment, produced, mixed, and mastered it.

Until she was gifted a guitar at the beginning of lockdown, Becky had only ever sung on covers and co-written originals. After using her time in isolation wisely, Becky learned enough chords to pen You Say and can be heard playing the guitar riff during the opening bars of the number.

As someone with anxiety, Becky has fought relentlessly to identify effective coping strategies and, throughout it all, her partner has continually remained a source of calm and support. You Say is a love song that pays homage to him and all the encouraging things he tells her each day. It also comes as a nod to all loving and supportive partners as it is being released on “Love Is Kind” day.

The 27th July has become notable - particularly in the States - for raising awareness of domestic abuse and Lawrence’s lyrics help to:

• Recognise every person’s right to be treated with kindness

• Realise that healthy and safe relationships, on every scale, start with kindness

• Gives hope to those who may be suffering

• And remind people that words are a simple yet effective way to show kindness.

“While practising the guitar one night, I began thinking about my partner and the six wonderful years we have had together,” Lawrence explained. “After a string of short-term and failed relationships, I’m so grateful to have enjoyed his companionship for the past few years. I hope that he is the one I spend the rest of my life with.”

Becky continued, “That evening, I reminisced about the kindness he has shown me, and the words of encouragement he has shared and continues to share… words that still bring me comfort today, years later. So, basically, I’ve joined some of the greats in writing a soppy, upbeat country/pop ballad about my love for my man, my appreciation of his kindness, and as a reminder to everybody that we can build people up with our kind words.”

In the lead up to the release Becky is running a series of emoji-themed games across her social media platforms whereby fans can win merchandise. These will include a teaser game of “Guess The Song Lyric”, and asking fans to post nice things they say to the people they love in emojis only.
