Being identical twins, we have always sung and performed together. We both grew up listening to country music even
though we felt like the only ones! When we realised that there were other British people out there who loved country
music, we knew we had to get out there and find them! So, we started writing songs and eventually decided we were
ready to share them with an audience. At first it was difficult to come up with a name that felt natural (and not a cheesy
twin pun!) but we kept coming back to ‘Cinder Hill’ which is the name of the street we grew up on in a tiny village in
Cheshire. About as country as it gets!
We started off 2018 by releasing our debut EP ‘Fairytales’, which went in at no.3 in the iTunes Country chart, and
opening for Jenn Bostic (and Emma Stevens). Our debut music video for ‘Here for You’ was featured on Keep It
Country TV and our debut single, ‘Know When it is Wrong’, was included in Lyric Magazine's British Women of Country
Spotify Playlist.
We were also shortlisted for several awards including a UK Country Music Award for 'Duo of the Year', a BCMA Award
for 'People's Choice British Group, Trio or Duo' and the BCA 'Artist of the Year 2018' award.
To say we had an amazing year is an understatement!
Question: If you had the choice to play at your dream venue anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Answer: We are massive Disney fans to the point where we have been to Walt Disney World six times in the last three
years and even have our own Disney YouTube channel! So, our dream would be to perform on the stage in front of
Cinderella’s Castle in Magic Kingdom; combine our love of Disney and our love of country music!
Question: Which song always has the best reaction from a crowd at live gigs?
Answer: We wrote ‘The Proof’ for our Mum and Dad for their 35th wedding anniversary. When we tell the audience the
story of how we wrote it for them and they listen to the lyrics, there are usually a few tears. It will always be special to
us as it is such a personal song, but we are so glad that other people find it special too.
Question: Who is the main songwriter or do you write as a band?
Answer: We write all of our songs together but most are based on Katie’s Taylor Swift-like love life! The only way we
can write is from our own experience which is what country music is all about. We are not ruling out co-writes with
other artists in the future; if they are happy to work with our twinness!
Question: What is your favourite cover song to play?
Answer: Definitely ‘Not Ready to Make Nice’ by the Dixie Chicks. They are such sassy ladies and we are naturally not
very sassy at all! So, it is nice to get to be sassy while we are singing that song!
Question: What is your favourite driving music for long journeys and do you sing along?
Answer: Of course we sing along! Basically it has to be country and it has to be on CD! Sometimes it’s difficult to get
hold of actual CDs but we do if we can. Our favourites right now are Old Dominion, Dan & Shay, Carrie Underwood,
Maddie & Tae and Lady Antebellum.
