Baylen Leonard BBC Radio 2 / Country Hits Radio

Simon James is a singer songwriter from Lancashire who has been performing around the UK and Europe for over 20 years. Simon blends his love of folk, country, rock and blues to create beautiful songs that work equally well solo or with his full band ‘The Deep River Pilots’. Simon has played the majority of UK Americana and Country festivals to coincide with his top 40 UK Country album launch and top 10 single ‘broken too long’.

His latest release ‘Ghosts’ is a 5 track EP featuring songs written over the lockdown period, brought on by the current pandemic. The songs are stories around mental health, relationships and loss, deep meaningful stories that hopefully resonate with the listener.

The recordings were done across three studios over several months and feature some of Simon’s favourite musicians and vocalists. Track 4 on the EP ‘Free’ was written with the assistance of legendary songwriter and Ivor Novello award nominee Boo Hewerdine, former member of The Bible and writer of many classics including Eddie Readers The patience of angels.

The EP features the talents of artists Boo, Scott Warman, Gary Thistlethwaite, Sam Lawrence, Elaine Lennon, Sam Coe, Ali Mac, Ben Walker, Chris Pepper and Melanie Greggain.
