Review 'Wild In The Wind' by Tommy Atkins

When I first heard 'Wild In The Wind' the tone of Tommy's voice really struck me. It is stunning.

The other thing that I immediately noticed was the great dobro riff that runs throughout the song

'Wild In The Wind' is a look back on a life shared. The memories and the emotional journey.

It's a beautiful soulful, really well produced country ballad with subtle harmonies that compliment Tommy's voice perfectly.

'Wild In The Wind' really is a great song that will really enhance your music library.

PRESS RELEASE: Atkins Storms the Country Charts Worldwide

Wild in The Wind is the debut single from rising British country artist, Tommy Atkins. Overnight, the track has stormed onto the iTunes Country Charts across the world, reaching #2 on the New Zealand and #5 in the U.K.

The singer describes the ballad as “emotional, but celebratory. It mourns the loss of a friend but focuses on being grateful for that person ever being in your life. I hope this song can provide comfort and make you smile, even if there is a tear in your eye.”

The track was recorded in Nashville by producer Dr Ford and features legendary steel guitar and dobro player, Smith Curry (Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Little Big Town), guitarist Chris Condon (Billy Ray Cyrus) and Tommy’s co-writer, Anna Pearson, who sings a beautiful harmony part. The song was mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer, Pete Lyman (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile).

“I couldn’t have asked for a better set of musicians to lend their talents to this song. Dr Ford let me have a say in so much of the production and I’m extremely proud of what we’ve created.”

Tommy is currently working on the rest of his debut album, and the openly gay singer-songwriter hopes to bring something different to the expanding country scene.

“I have a lot of love songs about my husband and the lyrics are gendered, so it’s clear as day that I’m singing from a gay perspective. My songs are also heavily influenced by the 90s country music I grew up listening to. Audiences want to hear fiddle and steel and dobro and true-to-life stories, and that’s definitely what I bring to the table.’’

'Wild in The Wind' is out now all major download and streaming platforms.
