Review: 'Popcorn' by Tommy Taylor & The Lonesharks
Reviewer: Charlotte West

Tommy Taylor and the Lonesharks have been around on the scene for a while now & will be releasing their first single ‘Popcorn’ on the 8th May & you can pre-order from 18th April.
‘Popcorn’ is a song about the moonshiner, Marvin ‘Popcorn’ Sutton, one of the most famous moonshiners of recent years. Putting his own twist on southern country music, Tommy has added in the voice of Marvin ‘Popcorn’ Sutton, at the beginning and end of the song, giving the song a real ‘story’ feel to it.
‘Popcorn’ is a very rocky country song, definitely one I can see being popular at shows. Tommy’s gravely voice suits the song so well. There’s some great beats and guitar riffs, definitely a song that needs to be turned up loud!
Tommy owns a restaurant in Filey, called ‘Tommys’. He regularly hosts music nights with many U.K country artists having played or being lined up to play & I have heard it definitely is a ‘must visit’. Tommy recorded 'Popcorn' in his own home set up in the restaurant due to the Covid-19 virus, but you would never be able to tell that this wasn’t recorded in a studio setting.
Tommy Taylor and the Lonesharks are definitely a band to watch as they begin their journey into the U.K. country scene.
