NEWS: Preston D Barnes - 'Castles On Quicksand'


David Barnes (known also as Preston D Barnes) is a professional vocalist and musician who continues to make waves across the UK following a 22 year career in the British Army. During his military career David has travelled extensively across the globe to over 38 countries. He has played with world renowned artists such as: Jools Holland, Russell Watson, Catherine Jenkins, JLS, and had the opportunity of recording the re-release of Status Quo’s Famous single ‘In The Army Now’ in 2010 as a backing vocalist.


In 2016 David appeared on ‘The Voice UK’ successfully making it through the all important Blind Auditions. Viewers learned that David had a successful career in the British Army as a highly qualified musician and became a firm favourite, securing a place on Team Ricky (Ricky Wilson). This journey took him to the final knock-out stages. Since appearing on the show, David has been asked to perform nationwide at some of the country's biggest events and venues.


During the Covid-19 pandemic, David dedicated his time creating and performing on a charity single 'We Applaud You'. The single features the incredible talents of Britain's Got Talent Winner 2019 Colin Thackery, internationally acclaimed Soprano Vocalist Christina Johnston, and the British Army musicians. The charity single was backed by stars including Colin Maclachlan (SAS Who Dares Wins), Olympian Denise Lewis, Chesney Hawkes, Sir Cliff Richard and many more. The single has donated 100% of the proceeds to the NHS Charities Urgent Appeal.


Performing as Preston D Barnes and signed to the new Country Music record label Sonic Boom Records, Preston has previously released 2 albums and is also working on his 3rd release, a collection of original material written by some of USA's most famous songwriters.


Preston has been welcomed into the UK Country Scene with open arms and will soon be releasing his fourth single, ‘Castles on Quicksand’ written by Paul Bliss (The Hollies, Sheena Easton, Moody Blues, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Olivia Newton John) Steve Kipner (Natasha Bedingfield, Christina Aguilera, The Script, Cheryl Cole, James Arthur) & Peter Beckett (Kenny Rogers, Janet Jackson, The Temptations, Olivia Newton John).


The song tells the story of someone that’s been hurt by a previous relationship and finds it hard to move on when meeting someone new.


Castles on Quicksand is released on the Sonic Boom Record label 16th September 2022 available to download and stream from all major platforms.
