UK CMSA Newcomer of the Year releases her second EP ‘Coffee and Conversations’, featuring fan favourite, ‘On the Loose’
Charlotte Young is a critically acclaimed, chart-topping country singer-songwriter from Birmingham, UK. Taking influence from the likes of Johnny Cash, The Eagles & Carrie Underwood, Charlotte creates a unique sound that strikes a balance with old-fashioned country feelings and contemporary country sounds and crisp production. Following an incredibly successful debut year with a #1 UK iTunes Country Single and accompanying #1 UK Country iTunes Album with ‘Blown Away’, Charlotte has been nominated for a number of awards including UK Country Artist of the Year & was awarded UKCMSA Newcomer of the Year. Her latest two singles ‘Praying for Rain’ and ‘On the Loose’ both reached #3 in the UK Country iTunes Chart, and the former recently reached #1 in the European Academy of Country Music Charts.
The EP opens with a track that has been eagerly anticipated by Charlotte’s fans. ‘Remedy’ has proven to be a fan favourite from live streams and tells the tale of somebody constantly coming back but letting you down. It’s a heartbreak story set to a cheerful beat.
‘On the Loose’ is a ‘true standout contemporary heartbreaker that is sure to strike a chord with listeners across the globe’ [Music Tour and News]. You would have heard this single upon its release, featuring UK rising artist Georgia Nevada but the EP includes the original recording that Charlotte performs solo. The lead single ‘Praying for Rain’ incorporates familiarity but with Charlotte’s own spin on love and loss. Both tracks reached #3 in the UK Country iTunes Chart and the latter recently reached #1 in the European Academy of Country Music Charts.
‘Early Light’ is Charlotte's attempt at a summer tune! A song to sing at the top of your lungs when you’re driving around. Who in your life has changed it forever, now that they're in it?
An added extra includes an acoustic version of the #1 debut single ‘Whiplash’ which Charlotte wanted to record to celebrate one year in the country music scene. The track tells the tale of an indecisive love, somebody who just can not make up their mind whether that person is worth it despite all the tribulations they’ve been through.
“My second EP brings more tales, a collective of country themes that are familiar from the first record but more adult with each song. I wanted to showcase these songs as if they were conversations, a story to be told with each verse. Mixing together country feel and instruments, storytelling and a whole lot of heart, Coffee and Conversations captures me as an artist and hopefully makes you all feel like we’re having a coffee and a catch-up.”
