Hannah White & The Nordic Connections Pay Me A Compliment
The New Single - 8th May 2020 "'Pay Me A Compliment' is one of the most vulnerable songs I’ve ever written. I was very low when I wrote it and the words that came to me were simple. The song is about feeling worn and broken, feeling the sadness of the world and a longing for a time when life was effortless and when I felt beautiful. I think most of us have those nostalgic moments, the ones that hurt a little. The line “I was 22 when I first knew that Monday, Tuesday are just words we say” refers to a moment in my life which keeps turning up in my songs, when everything changed. My father took his last breath holding on to my hand and from then on nothing in this world was ever the same again. The song is also a soft, intimate plea to a person close, “pay me a compliment to ease my weary soul”.
