This 3 song EP opens with 'Sorry Momma' which starts off fairly stripped back and the instrumentation gradually builds. She is apologising to mum for her life not turning out as she had hoped and explaining that she needs to start over.
'Woman Like Me' is the fullest sounding song on the EP although it opens with just Emilia singing with her guitar. It's about being in a relationship but that the partner you are with doesn't approve of you trying to improve yourself because of their insecurities. They just want you to stay as you are now. There are some beautiful harmonies in this song.
With Emilia drawing on life experiences for her heartfelt soulful lyrics and being a multi instrumentalist she plays most of the instruments on the EP herself.
The final song 'Wrote Off' starts off acapella but very soon turns into a song full of sass and it really showcases Emilia's beautiful voice. It's a break-up song but don't worry she has built herself a new life.
'Wrote Off' doesn't need bells and whistles for Emilia to get her message across. This young lady makes every word sung sound totally believable.
Available to download on all digital platforms from 26th May. You will also be able to find a brand new video on YouTube to accompany it.
I would certainly recommend adding it to your music library.
