Thursday night saw the return of Kevin McGuire with a hometown gig at Broadcast on Sauchiehall Street.
This was the 1st trip north of the border for fans favourite Jade Helliwell in almost a year. Jade opened the night with a
mixture of old and new tracks and her vocals never cease to amaze me, the vibrato just appears and enhances what is
a great vocal talent. Jade loves a visit north and she has a great rapport with the audience at her gigs.
The mix of older tracks new tracks and a couple of covers proved to be a hit with all of us there. Jade has a great
stage presence and a great interaction with the listeners, and we weren’t short of applause for her at the end of her
Next up was a local lass called Carly Connor who is like a wee blast of dynamite in her movement when performing.
Carly showcased her own musical and song writing talents along with her band. Not wanting to run over time and miss
out on anything on her setlist she mentioned she was going to forget the usual chat and just get on with the music. A
very enjoyable 1st time of hearing this young bubbly artist who is well worth a listen to if you get the chance.
Finally, onto Kevin McGuire and his band who started his set with a few of his newer numbers and after a few of these
brilliant new songs Kevin moved onto some of his older original tracks along with an odd cover.
After a bit Kevin stripped it all back to where it all started and with guitarist Mikey Smith showcased some of his early
material with tracks like 3AM and Late. At the end of the set there was a return to the stage for Jade who did a duet
with Kevin and they sounded great together.
All in all a brilliant night.
