This is an acoustic recording with just a guitar and Phoenix's vocal. A stripped back ballad laid bare.
When I listen to this song it conjures up a picture in my head of a guy sitting in a rocking chair, on a porch, playing his guitar and singing softly to himself, with the majestic snow capped mountains stretched out in front of him. Every time I listened to 'Waterfall' my mind took me straight back to that scene.
I love that the song that takes me to a place far removed from where I actually am. It is the greatest form of escapism.
Phoenix has a really nice tone to his voice and it really blends very well with the country style songs he is writing.
You won't have to wait too long till you can hear it for yourselves. 'Waterfall' will be out on 21st January
