Guitar Pull Glasgow 20/9/18
Stereo Café in Glasgow was the venue for the Scottish performance of Guitar Pull Unplugged featuring Gary Quinn, Laura Oakes and Darren Hodson (Southern Companion). Support act was from Scottish based Americana/folk/Country artist Adriana Spina.
Adriana started the show with a great set of her own songs and for me hearing her for the 1st time live she was great. She engaged the audience with her wee stories about the songs and these songs made a great start to the night. Another act to listen to if you haven’t heard her before and she can be found on most media platforms.
The main part of the gig was a guitar pull (in the round) featuring Gary, Laura and Darren who all took it in turn to explain about the songs they were about to sing and performed their own music. Gary started off the show before passing the baton to Laura and then Darren. There were serious songs and quirky songs from their catalogues which showed off their song writing ability well.
What was great to see was the admiration they showed to each other including some backing harmonies and featured some fantastic guitar playing from Darren both during his own songs and filling for Gary and Laura.
The interaction with the audience was good craic a good few laughs were had.
Another great night of music from the 4 fantastic artists on show.
