Raintown Tour Finale @ Oran Mor

On Saturday night we had the last of the run of the Run With The night Tour and as anyone who caught the tour on its travels will probably agree with me, it has been a fantastic few gigs.

I deliberately didn't say too much about the songs in my last blog as the tour was ongoing and I didn't want to spoil the surprises coming from Paul and Claire.

On Saturday night in Oran Mor in Glasgow we were treated to a fantastic young Glasgow artist going by the name of Rianne Downey who gave us a short set of great songs and ended her slot with a cover of The Proclaimers "Sunshine On Leith". I really hope this is the start of a busy career for Rianne.

The 2nd support slot went to Foreign Affairs who are a duo of brothers from the Bristol area. These guys play guitar and sing, along with sharing their own percussion on stage. One of them playing lead guitar and bass drum while the other plays acoustic guitar along with snare drum and cymbals. They included some of their own songs and also included a cover of Chris Stapleton's Tennessee Whiskey which to me sounded as good as if not better than the original. Their harmonies were 1st class and I hope they come back north soon.

The main act Raintown then took to the stage during the lightshow to start their gig with If This Was A Love Song" which from the start had us all hooked. I wont list all the tracks but the show included a track which has made a return to their set "Gone Like That" which is excellent and a new track called "Play It Loud". Further through the set they included their stripped back version of "Girl Crush". Wow wow wow does it get any better than that? Other great tracks on the list are the one which was the title of their last Cd "Writing On The Wall" along with their new single "Run With The Night" which I hope people will request from their favourite radio stations to give it the airplay it deserves.

I'm indulging myself here listing some of my own personal favourites including "In Your Heart", "Missing You" and "Nineteen Again" to their mainstay tracks including one which was part of their encore "Shut The Front Door".

The Inverness set is included in a playlist @ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmPU1h2pLelHN5yv9nIeZmJHGFkOfnUKM

Altogether the two nights of the tour Ive been to have been absolutely amazing.
