Review of Wolverhampton Country Songwriters Night 24/3/18

Thank you Ian Morrall for the photos for this review.

Last night was amazing. These nights get busier and busier. A full house (roughly 80 people) and still people were standing last night. I am very pleased to see this. Jim Duncan and Patricia Swindells do a fantastic job organising this monthly event.

Opening tonight are Blue Genes. A family trio, Kay Stephen and Megan Lee from Wrexham Wales. This band is always spot on and their harmonies are gorgeous.

Our second act for the night are Gasoline & Matches. I loved their set. Their songs are fantastic and some are quirky. Sallys voice has a beautiful tone and just a tiny bit of huskiness. Steven plays a mean guitar that has a great sound. Something a little different.

Next up was Ags Connolly. We loved his set too. Hailing from Oxfordshire Ags is slightly more traditional in style. He does have a great voice.

And last but by no means least, the resident artists The Emma Swindells Band. They always deliver a cracking show and I love their original songs. They always drop a new cover in and last night it was Lady Antebellum's We Own the Night which was great. They can play The Chain by Fleetwood Mac every day and I will never tire of it. It is fantastic.

The next Wolverhampton Country Songwriters Night will be held on Saturday 28th April at Bantock House, Finchfield Road Wolverhampton WV3 9LQ.
